Listening to every heart

0 posted 2002-11-11 04:14 PM

bluejeans & teaparties

not then and
not now although
appreciation
is given for those
who are lace and
frill and can stand
still, not wishing for
bluejeans that
fit and a spine
that won’t quit
when it comes to
climbing a tree
as that still lingers
in me

leaves are calling me

even back to sandbox
times one could
find me singing rhymes
making mudpies with
baby snail eyes
my dolly sitting
in her rocker
wishing I would
come and talk her
into coming out
to play with me,
her and my other
dollies three

rainbarrels are beckoning

do you remember
how in swinging
feet kicked high
and ponytails
bringing a blush
to cheeks as the
sting of hair
whips fair faces
in the hurry up
to kick the sky
then the drag
of toes in sand

waiting for the ice-cream man

walking in the
stance of dad in
heels just like
mom had, I a
combination’s
blend of female
bliss and strength
of hand to take
a nail and pound
it well, then bake
some bread, now
catch the smell

good things are rising

this, a mixture of
complete a bit of
salt, taste of sweet
no pastels to cover
me, but denim and
earth and mystery
to figure out what
I am, a configuration
of collaboration
striding both sides
of the fence,
a bit of girl in
boy’s world and
what you see
is what you
get

but the heart is tender

in grace one grows
accepting womanhood
no changing
even if one could
but would not now
nor ever be anything
else, this bit of
me, to cry when cows
give birth to stillborn,
stoic to stand when
one does harm
through word or deed
no cry from me
donning bluejeans to
take a walk

taking tea alone, no talk

then look here in
the heart of
me, a wisp of dream
found in green,
dressed in bluejeans
forever a gift of
giving lift in
smile and shifting
from myself now
on to you…
put on your jeans,
I’ll serve tea to you

we shall then listen to leaves

Wow... This was so beautiful.

Where do you live? I'll be there by tea time!

Karilea!  This is so YOU!!
(also sounds a lot like me)
I've got my jeans on..
I'll bring my old teddy bear and Raggedy Ann...
We'll sit them up on the bench..
Shall I pour or will you do the honours?
I love the imagery here and the touch of whimsy.
Lets kick up and see if we can touch the sky!
~Hugs to you sweet lady~

extremely rich. a bite of the past a sip of the present from you. its strange how some things don't change, some of what you describe of your childhood is so similar to mine although we certainly are of different generations.

well done.

Karilea, I just adore the words in this stanza and I just adore the whole poem.
Fantastic ...

How well I remember and there are days when I wish I could go back.

I like that stanza the best.

I like this, the images are strong and vivid. I'm a bluejean child myself-but lace is pretty, isn't it?

My goodness, this is perfection! It's so like the leaf that falls, catches air, drifts, turns, spins, pauses, grounds, then rides from poof to gust, sighing and giggling! Wonderful!

OK, so I was so flattered by your reply to my last post that I had to read more of you. Now I'm REALLY flattered. I have a feeling we should talk----wanna?

Let me know girl, and thanks for seeing inside, (you know what I mean).
