Barefoot On Damp Earth |

Fully right now the thought of walking on damp earth, barefoot brings pleasant thoughts to mind. Long ago times of childhood out after dark tagging along as my older brother hunted for worms in summer. What a joy this was for me though right now I can't think of a reason why it should have been, yet I know it was. And it was the feel of the dirt of the grass wet with rain upon my barefeet, as I just kind of lagged behind not really watching as he pulled the little worms out of the ground. Funny how back then I never worried about stepping on one of them little worms, but now it just kind of makes me feel creepy. But back then, it was magical the darkness of the night falling upon brother and sister under a dark, star riddled sky the flashlight beam showing mist in air, as it pointed there, where life wiggled in the lawn. A special time of innocence that I remember with fondness of thought, upon barefoot girls and wet cool earth between the toes. WhiteRose 11/05/02 "my reflection becomes me" |

Well, you captured that memory perfectly, and yes, it was so special, though I was the one picking the worms to sell them the next day at a road side stand. And, yes, shoes were out of the question. Squish squish.... so much fun! Thanks for this. Warm Regards, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

a beautiful memory dear. reads like a journal entry in verse. the lack of form and rhyme, and the choice of simple pastoral words was perfect. seriously one of my faves from you. let me know when the other board get back to normal, eh? |

(smiles) Awwwwwwwww, I just love this memory, sweet friend, I remember the feeling of running in the sprinklers as a little boy and still feel it today! (kiss on cheek) Such soft moments fill your words, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Anne, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

WhiteRose Such memories I think, are just photos of love in stages, colored by the earth, when even a worm is beautiful. |

Pat, thanks so much for reading and responding. Today I wouldn't dream of crossing the grass here in the south without shoes. Fire ants, OUCH! majnu, things have settled down. Glad you liked this one. Noah, thank you so much for always reading and responding. Martie, What a lovely response. Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed my picture of the past. I love this, Rosie... and the memories it evokes. *G* Of course, we always had at least a few chickens running loose... and cows and horses and... well, let's just say that watching where those bare feet went was highly recommended! LOL |
