Oh, Life! A thousand years before this child appeared upon the earth The music known as poetry had long been givenbirth Aesthetic beauty found its way through eyes that knew of strife So long before I slipped into continuance of life Twas life that bared my suffering soul, twas life that set me free And life that flows through veins like ink in verses yet to be God bless the windows of my eyes through which I see the world Whatever passes to the heart, in verse will be unfurled The in and out, the give and take, the ever flowing phrase Oh life, you are the poetry, the breath of all my days Elizabeth Santos Nov 1, 2002 [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (11-05-2002 06:08 AM).] |
