Etchings tapped keys behold tenacious thoughts quick to be deleted in bits and bytes removal of same from monitored I’s that know better than to reveal so much too soon truth pen in hand script’s recall of penmanship taught curls to lines to curls encircling round white memories laden with burdens of permanence, not so easily deleted, even when held to flames before one’s eyes in its reality when one can feel between one’s finger the soul that made them become, made more memorable than what is seen now… truth be told only when it is written on the heart does permanence remain…. write me… etch for me some remembrance that seeds sown will bear to nourish your soul even if no linen of lines curled to round lay between fingertips beholding only bits and bytes of tenacious ideals captured only if one knows how to turn it on… |

Reminds me of the old pickup line “would you like to come back to my place and see my etchings?” but I know you are too young for that line. An art form of unnecessary elaborate nature, Why etch when drawing will do Why add the frills, when they are useless decorations. Penmanship, Calligraphy and other packaging Too much lost, too much overlooked In the rush of efficiency and speed Enjoyed the poem Gloom |

Thought provoking write, Karilea..it really doesn't matter the mode of communication..just the motivation behind it...we must never let the technology get in the way of the content... ...believe what your heart feels... |

I like you etchings, particularly the curl to line to curl. And etching suggests something deeper that writing, which I believe you have penned. Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

Karilea~ I LOVE 'etchings' too~ I 'communicate' quickly on the keyboard ... but often retreat with pen in hand to grab a moment of indelible 'etchings'~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Very nicely done Karilea. I'm afraid I'm showing my age here but... I recall that line Professor Gloom is referring to as well. Strange what a time I have writing in longhand, after using the keyboard to communicate with family and friends for so long. Makes me wonder if it will soon become a lost art. ~Hugs~ ~Love, like magic, depends on believing.~ |

I have always enjoyed the actual putting of pen to paper, but the computer has made writing easier and expedient--but there is less magic in the process. Literally loverly... Linda |

write me… etch for me some remembrance that seeds sown will bear to nourish your soul Karilea, this is beautiful......mmmm.....to have someone be able to catch the heart and spirit with pen has to be the greatest gift one could ever receive. Beautiful sweet lady....but then you knew I would say that right. |

Karilea, I've used that line many a time, but with only art in mind. As Kit said this is a keeper. |

Karilea, a very thought provoking poem. I "heard" in this poem that more of the memories from the heart are put down on paper with our pens. When we are using our fingers to type, we can delete too much of what we've written. Especially when we are trying not to show everything inside inside of our memory. Am I just pondering my thoughts, or is this part of what this poem really means? I'd like to know. Love makes the world go 'round (unkown) |
