Dead ash winds blow hauntingly, trys permeate to deepest reach. This, the feel, to be alive, to have survived most certain death. Now, the hacking, shortened breath, though there be peace, there is no rest, just test and test and test… The battle hasn’t yet been won, so guard can never be let down. I cannot weep, for fear I'd drown and grieve the joy that is lost. Frail, but still with strength to fight, I breathe the ashes borne on winds. I wait the day that spirit mends and joy finds its return. [This message has been edited by Auguste (11-02-2002 05:14 PM).] |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Michael, your words are always so touching to all our hearts as we can relate too to the strength we yearn to seek, and I know with your golden heart you will become invincible with love as long as you believe! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, you are a survivor and we all are so proud of you, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." Shakira [This message has been edited by Mistletoe Angel (11-02-2002 02:35 PM).] |

Michael, I've found throughout my life, and the many encounters of other wounded people put in my path, that often what happened to all of us wasn't because we lacked in anything, but, that we were so much, spiritually speaking! (something we had nothing to do with, nor, do I have a clue, why) The real battle belongs to the God of our understanding, and He ~WILL~ make it right, in His own time, in a way all of us put together couldn't even concieve, let alone achieve. Trusting has always been a most difficult state to sustain, but, usually always of self....damage to our very soul causes such self-doubt. Though most others here are finding this poem so sad, and indeed it is, I see it as very positive, for you prove over and over, taking that one breath at a time, no matter how labored, is what it is about. I do believe there will come a time for joy for you, few will ever have known. There are levels of joy, and you will have attained the highest of the high, because of the the courage you show with this and many other of your poems you so willingly share, and which probably help more people than you'll ever know, and because of your stubborn stick-to-it-ness! You are an example to us all! Thanks for giving us part of yourself, letting many know they are not alone in their private battles. Warm Hugs To You, and Warm Regards, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Michael, I won't even begin to try to say what I'm feeling inside right now. All I know is that there is an ache in my heart and that I feel a deep compassion for you. You showed many emotions in this poem, friend. I'm sure there must have been lots of feelings hidden between the lines in this poem. Thank you, Michael, for sharing your heart with us. My prayers are with you. ~~With Love And Hugs To All~~ |

Michael... I am so familiar with this frightening feeling. You have expressed it better than I ever could. I know how scared you are because anyone who has ever dealt with this disease knows that once you have had it, even if it has gone into remission... you still always have it and it can come back at any time. Mine has never even gone into remission but I know that if I am ever lucky enough to experience that... I will still be frightened forever... Please know that you have all of my prayers, always ~ many loving hugs Lyra |

Healing peaceful thoughts to you, Michael. I know you have so much to live for that you will fight this illness with all the strength you can muster. You will paint your way out of this darkness, and color a rainbow over your pathway that will help guide others. |

Noah, Your words are always heartfelt and dearly appreciated, my friend. Dawn, I pray you'll never be able to relate. Hugs back and thanks you. Linda, Nice to see you here. Thank you Nancy, Very true, my friend. Thanks and hugs back. Magnus, Thank you and thanks also for the prayers. This Diamond, I am in good company and I do feel the sea breeze daily. Thank you! Sue, You're very sweet. Thank you, my friend. Wind, There's no need to cry. I'm a survivor and this poem explains how the first few months recovering sometimes feels like. Thank you Pat, This poem to me is a way of spirtually healing and trying to regain that lost joy. I don't believe a surgeon's scalpel healed me. I believe it was God that did so. Even the strength I needed to go through cancer and the strength I now have in dealing with the future, is strength supplied by God Himself. I dearly believe that. I don't often know how my poetry touches those that read it, but if a single poem is helpful in some small way, then I've succeeded at a writer. I want to thank you very much for your kind reply. Ethel, Yes, there are feelings between the lines, but I didn't find it necessary to include them in this poem. I'll be tested every 4 months for the next 8 years to make sure cancer hasn't returned. My doctors have even advised me to be tested beyond the 8 years. Still, I have faith that I'll be fine. God bless and hugs to you also. Thank you Lyra, Yes, you not only know this feeling, but are going through far more than I ever had to. I admire you greatly, not only your poetry, but you, personally. I ask God each day to lend His strength to you and to heal you, my friend. God bless you, Lyra. Loving hugs in return, my friend. Kacy, We all handle life threatening disease and the fear that accompanies it in our own way. Mine is to think of it as an enemy threatening my family. That in itself is enough to make me fight it and never entertain the thought of letting it win. Thank you, my friend. Martie, You bring joy to all that have a chance to come to know you. You're a very, very dear friend and I'm so thankful to have found you. Big hugs, sweet one. |
