In an upside-down garden

Shadows fall to wooden sandals
with velvet straps and buckles;
her hippie shoes, she calls them,
the run away with me shoes,
they say, be careful if you see them,
you'll never see her again.

Raindanced and distraught,
pumpkin seeds don't fill the soul
the way they fill your stomach when
all you eat is air and everything seems
to fill you up, all the words take up too much
space inside of her and there is no room
for food or difference.

Make someone happy, she says,
like I never did for you, you're wonderful
but you'll never realize any of it and if you did,
would it really matter anyway?

Her eyes light up with the sounds of those
quotations, those word written in
purple ink, scribbled across stones
and thrown into the bottom of a
long forgotten well, springs of tears
provide water for eternity as long as you
continue to make her cry.

Wow! This is so cool, I love the style.

"Her eyes light up with the sounds of those
quotations, those word written in
purple ink, scribbled across stones
and thrown into the bottom of a
long forgotten well, springs of tears
provide water for eternity as long as you
continue to make her cry."

What a perfect last stanza!! My favourite bit!!
Thanks for sharing

Oh, wow. Okay, people... *points to Allysa* ... look here... this is where you're trying to get...

Awesome. As some of you know, I don't much like un-rhyming things... and I rarely write un-rhyming things. And most of the ones I read... I don't reply to.

This one, however... you've used beautiful words and imagery to really bring out the feeling and interest and capture the reader.

Can't wait to read more.
