This is one of the first poems I ever wrote
and I've decided to post it.
Dedication: With undying love for my Grandpa.

Only one man can bring a certain joy
To the hearts of young children and older children
With candy, ice cream, and those special bear hugs,
That become so frail with age and those sloppy kisses that become dry with time.
And even though the kisses become dry and the hugs frail,
And the ice-cream and candy melted and stale,
He holds a special place within everyone's heart
And with each special place
Lies a special memory each different in it's own way
Only one man can bring a certain sorrow and a certain pain
When the icy hands of time and age take his heartbeat away,
Then within each special place and memory
Lies a special kind of pain,
Only a Papa can have so many different names.

As I said, this is an OLD poem so bear with me on the format and such, I was just starting out in the poetry world!

no need for apologies...the only odd formatting was the constant capitalization througout the poem, but poetry does tend to have it's own rules so it doesn't realy matter...you emotion and spirit were far more important and the poem was very enjoyable...I'm glad I read it.

I like that... I never knew my grandpa, so I like reading other peoples' experiences with theirs.

I think I need to call my grandpa.     I really enjoyed this.  I still remember being spoiled by my grandpa when I was younger.

Hope to see more from you soon.
