The place just beyond my eyes, where my spirit flies.

Interstate 475 and I get off at Secor...
Turn left and ride the wave for less than a mile.
Accross from Goodwill,
There lies what I'm craving.
Open the door and the bell jingles,
As I step into a whole world of metal at my fingertips.
This is the place where I feel good about myself,
It is the conqerer of fears,
The adrenalin factory.
Here, I listen to that Trance/Rock mix CD,
Blaring out of the Boom Box.
What shall be next?
On the T.V. flashes pleasent memories past.
Painful Pleasures are released from this sanitized studio.
In here, I am The Lord Of The Rings,
I may pick everything,
Or leave with nothing.
This completor of identities,
It feeds the monster within,
If fuels my charisma, and makes me believe in myself,
You may be addicted to other things,
Drugs, alcohol, cigarettes...
I have a different addiction
A Steel Addiction.

Ahh yes, the good ol' steel addictions. They're kind of like the burning and the breaking ones.

I liked this for what it represents. It's pretty well written so be proud of that. Don't let this addiction consume you. It's a pain in the ass to try and climb out of.

Excellent writing here about something you seem to be very passionate about.

Sometimes we have to follow a stronger voice, even if it's silent.

(sigh) I am not much of a heavy music fan, but I do respect the style and it does indeed have an intense energy behind it that truly can enthrall! (big huggsssss) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sam, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Well I am sure not into heavy metal but then I doubt you know who Perry Como is so we are even right but I enjoyed your poem anyway.

Y'made me smile with recognition.

Sometimes I even forget I'm an old lady now.
(embarrasses my kids though)

Enjoyed this much. Now I think I'll go crank it up. (I love it when the kids aren't home and I can listen to it LOUD--smile, who's running this show anyway, huh?)

Once again well done! I liked some of your others a little better than this one, but it was yet another success! I think that we can all relate to this.
