This is actually a poem that I wrote about 2 years ago, but I thought it still applied. Sometimes it's just interesting to go back into the old journals. I spoke to you of things like courage, endurance, and honesty, of common souls and young minds that pretend to be so grown, so all-knowing of all things. You said to me, "Why can't you paint and write of happy things?" I gave you a little smirk and twirled my hair around my finger "I refuse to make a masquerade of things that are meant for honest self-expression" But what you don't know is that if my soul could be painted or written in complete confidence, it'd scare you "you don't need one of these to let me inside of you" T.A. I know. I've written some "happy" stuff, and to me it sounds trite and almost silly. I prefer my more contemplative pieces. Well spoken, Jaime. Loved that last line! --Beth Howl at the stars, whisper when you're sleeping, I'll be there to hold you, I'll be there to stop the chills and all the weeping. |

Well I would love to see the things inside, Jaime. The truth is always a very scary thing especially if we're not used to it. Despite the fact it's 2 years old, it still reads very well and has an interesting feel to it. I'm impressed. ~AF~ "It is far more difficult to murder a phantom than a reality." - Virginia Woolf |

Your soul already scares me, Jaime. I've seen your homepage! Just kidding, of course... I like this poem, it's relatable... when I was very young, my mother was terrified for my life when she found some of my "meaning of life" poetry. Why can't I write of happy things? 'Cause they're boring and overdone. I prefer to delve deeper, to see the truth of things. And indeed, if one could paint the image of even the very world in complete confidence, it would be terrifying. For most, it is the masquerade that gives us any will to live. Well done. this is a great poem jaime. absolutely amazing. i mean, you've obviously grown as a writer a great deal, but you're always had that flare. we envy eachother!! heh. ::gets a little too giddy:: anywas, i thought this should definitely be bumped. it's worth it. oh and a side note. i saw the bottle of hair dye in your room, and i realised we use the same brand. heh. i think it may be same colour as well [pimpin' purple]. i bought it at 'out of the blue' [a nice little 'boutique'], so i'm wondering where you got yours. excellent job m'dear. and i DID email you!! love ya. /jen/ to give pleasure to a single heart by a single act is better than a thousand heads bowing in prayer. You did? Hmm.. I haven't gotten it yet. Are you sure it's to the right address? Fuggin' email. Anywho, thanks for replying. I'm always curious as to what you think of my poetry. I typically hate it. I'd burn it if it wasn't like a photograph of me in time. Some people say I'm too self-critical. Hm... no way. Thanks, everybody - you're all swell. Sanity is in itself enough to make you insane. |

Dark Enchantress~ I very much enjoyed reading this. It's definately a very well-written piece. Nicely done. ~Vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, you have not truly met the poet. ~vlraynes [This message has been edited by vlraynes (10-25-2002 02:27 AM).] |
