For the Moment Quietly she sat at the water's edge The water sang as it washed over the rocks and settled in the sand She placed her arms around her knees and bowed her head to rest. With her eyes closed she imagined herself as a child wrapped up in the arms of her father perfectly safe, perfectly secure. That was so long ago. Now she lived in the moment knowing that everything around her was temporary. She understood that the world was a troubled place. But, she also understood that while she was here she did not have to add to it. She had the power to make choices. She listened to the surf as she took in deep breaths of the salty air. She listened to the sea gulls and marveled at nature's ordered chaos. Yes, peace is a temporary state, she thought, for without unrest nothing would move forward. Change must come at a price, and so it is. She lifted her head and watched the clouds as they moved against the blue of the sky. She knew then everything would be O.K. c2002SimplyGold [This message has been edited by SimplyGold (08-31-2002 10:14 AM).] |

Very nicely done, I like your style and the reflective nature of your poetry... Made me think of a person standing, facing the wind, hair blowing, eyes squinting.. looking into the horizon of a new world.. Thanx for this poem.. |

Dear Madame C and Loner, You give yourselves away, I see that the East Coast is close to your hearts. The salty air, yes, only having been there can you really know. Thank you so much for your feedback. SimplyGold |

Magnus, Your imagery speaks to the hope that there are better tomorrows and of the extrodinary power we have to embrace change. Thank you for bringing in this coupled vision, it brings flavor to this picture. SimplyGold |
