Oh, mighty oak, You've stood sentry two hundred years or more, Braving the elements while giving refuge To those smaller and more vulnerable than yourself. Time and again history has been made Beneath your magnificent out-stretched arms. Oh, the stories you could tell, Of the loving and the warring, Of the building up and the tearing down, Of all the changes you've stood witness to. Scarred by the events of the ages, You have given of your bounty and your beauty, Asking nothing in return. But, alas, your days are numbered. In the name of "progress" you shall be Unceremoniously cut down, Taking with you one more link to the past. |

![]() (big hugggssssss) Oh Linda, this is so very sad but true, I only wish Mother Nature can revive herself again and an agreement can be made between more fortunate and less fortunate nations so these wonderful oaks can still stand! (sad sigh) This is powerful, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing! ![]() May love and light always shine upon you! Yes, yes, yes, and just as the boy become man will no longer come to visit "The Giving Tree," in Shel Silverstein's poetic children's story. This made me think too of the line: "Jackie Paper came no more." Even though a mighty oak is not a magic dragon, there is a parallel. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
