Though mere mortal that I be, I clap my hands in timphany-- may thunder echo rolls of drum and lightning be my spot of sun. I, of simple flesh and bone, weary of this pledge--atone-- I curse the gods that have cursed me-- I say the gods have blasphemied. I will not cower in my fate-- I kick the locks from garden gate. I will be damned eternally, but I'll be damned before concede. I will stand to face my judge. I'll stomp my feet in puddled blood. I raise my fist to gods unseen-- I will not die upon my knees. Defiant, I, am the accused-- I dare to meet the gaze of Zeus. |
