Machu Picchu Lullaby By: Noah Eaton 8/24/02 High above the Andes we will soar Weltering through the sacred puna and tola Run through the sagebrush and Polylepis forests Stop and smell the lobster claws and las cruces Against the lonesome cry of the Paramo Wolf Wind and reed be acquainted in our pan flute ceremony Striking poinsetta guitarras to invite the condor To fly free to us and crow its impeccable matinee With sarapes on our shoulders we'll climb the mountains High above the rainbow glass of the Amazon Riding our llamas as we play the pan flutes With turquoise necklaces and green tear bracelets Resting in the chucllas feasting on the corn and quinua Strumming charangos and rain sticks from peaks high above Running along the streets in every Kiyu-Kiyu Hopping in the rain, getting our hands dirty in spiritual love Rise to Huiracocha Sikus and quenas, wind and reed Learn your Quechua Grab your chakchas and sing wth the creed... Stand three feet from the edge and embrace The simplicity and the whispers of the wind in grace So hedonic, so harmonic So semisonic, so pentatonic Create constellations with your fingertips With Mama Quilla and Coillur Dance your little flute dance like the condor Weathering with an ancient song so pure... "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." Shakira [This message has been edited by Mistletoe Angel (08-25-2002 01:33 AM).] |

Wow! This is really a great piece, Noah. BTW, do you know the music group Quechua Marka? My ears were hearing their music as I read your poem. Well written, and very educational! "Stand three feet from the edge and embrace The simplicity and the whispers of the wind in grace" Beautiful imagery! [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (08-25-2002 01:41 AM).] |

Once again, I feel the need to visit this inspirational place, where truth often captures you even, especially when you are looking the other way. |

Dance your little flute dance like the condor Weathering with an ancient song so pure... Noah - What a wonderful imagination you have and an ease at expressing your thoughts. Enjoyed this. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |

Noah, Machu Picchu is an extreordinary place and your poem is absolutely superb. Have you been there. It is a true marvel, this city that sits atop a mountain with sheer precipices on all sides. And you first ask, how was this done? still standing after all these centuries with n mortar between the stones. Rocks were hoisted to the top with levers and pullies and sheer gravity and friction prevent them from moving, so perfectly flat the rocks were chiseled. I am so happy to see this poem. It is full of delightful observation about the land, the people and the culture and wildlife. You combied all in a colorful use of words and an exquisite poem. I think this is great!!! Thank you for posting My best to you Liz |

Yes! Yes! I'll come fly with you over the Andes---if Johanna doesn't mind---oh, dear, I fear she would---who wouldn't want you all to herself?!? Oh, well, you gave us a wonderful photo of Machu Picchu---a place I want to immerse myself in! Thank you! ~ I guess I'll have to fly solo! ~ P.S. I hope my wings are strong enough to get me there! tee-hee Earth Angel |
