Spurned tomorrow.
Lying on a dusty closet floor.
You do your best.
Leaving effort in your wake.
The eat your heart out,
while they rob your soul.
How do you halt
this merry-go-round
of wishgranting?
Only by giving of yourself freely
and expecting nothing in return,
for genuine acts of love
are self-rewarding.
And, by acknowledging,
they, too are entangled
in the puppetry
of their personal gods.
Look not to them for approval,
but rather, worship only One.
