Lookin at the rows of lights
along the night shore line
Summer days and breezy nights
are captured in my mind
Oh oh sweet memories
of windsongs talking love
Once again we'll hear them
in the sails above

Through the waves and wakes we'll glide
along the watery road.
Sunny days and moonlit nights
and wind to cleanse our soul.
Goodbye to shop work
gone to another world.
The streets will be fading
from our spreading swirls.

Chorus:
Every day will mirror
reflections we'll repeat.
Two aimless drifters
floating in a dream.
And every breath we take
and every day we wake
We'll be lovers lost at sea.

We'll blend with every roll
on a magic swing.
We'll be free from the toll
that working days can bring.
Oh time won't be wasted
we live so little years.
In the blow of the cool spray
We'll hold hands and cheer

Lapping waters linger on
And deep sleep will prevail.
With the voice of freedom calling
from a new dawn sail.
Oh oh, sweet memories
of mornings making love.
Oh how we'll caress
when the daylight comes.

Chorus:
Every day will mirror
reflections we'll repeat.
Two aimless drifters
floating in a dream.
And every breath we take
and every day we wake
We'll be lovers lost at sea.

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

I went sailing, just once,
and you brought the magic of it back
in this delightful write...

thanks for that, Ethome!

"floating in a dream"

I've never been sailing but this makes me want to sit on a sailboat and count the stars.

I HAVE sailed frequently and you have captured the feeling very well. Goodbye, civilization - hello, life!

I love the whole poem, but I am enthralled by the chorus. "lovers lost at sea"
such a romantic notion! But after all, it's to be expected from you, you are a poet. and a very fine one at that.
Thanx for sharing.

How beautiful! I hear your song in the sails, and I'm no where near an ocean breeze!

Has a lovely theme, and very nice wording to it, and seems to be one that would stick with you that's for sure.  I liked it

This is so well done. I grew up on a lake, your description:

...waves and wakes...
   ...along the watery road...

is perfect, as is the rest the poem.
Good Feeling.
