A marvel of perfection was Mishal That Saturday I walked in stunned mirth And felt my heart beat like a carnival, A carnival upon the humid earth. A marvel of desire was her love As lance in hand she waved the waiting crowd. And I surmised it was Brazil that wove her harmonies and beatitudes aloud. The writhing of the python, the Parrot's call, The draping of the jungle on my frame. The moisture of the moss upon the walls, The ruffle of the jaguar's lusty mane. All these were things I always left unsaid. Each time that Mishal came into my bed. [This message has been edited by Radrook (10-06-2002 05:53 AM).] |

Rad, I am so glad your sharing your poetry, you do write beautiful. You have things going on in this poem that I enjoyed so much and the 3rd stanza seems to stand out for me... although I loved it all. Thankyou caterina |

Hi! Thanks to everyone for the encouraging feedback. I am glad you enjoyed this sonnet. I wrote this poem twelve years ago. When I moved to live alone, things got a little disorganized. Somehow my poems got caught in the melee of the divorce and got misplaced. But after a thorough search, I finally found another small batch in a drawer and this one was included. I really wasn't too sure about posting it since most poetry today is written in free verse. But I figured I'd take a chance and post it anyway. Thanks again!
