SYMPHONY

it was the musk
(the lust)
of jasmine-scented pillow talk,
I listened
to the feeling
of all those songs
traveling
up and down my spine
as you played
me,
your symphony

you drank
the wine of applause
from an audience
mesmerized,
rose petals tossed
on a stage
of carnal knowledge,
crushed beneath your feet
as you stepped forward
to take a bow,
your crescendo

and I,
I simply exited
backstage,
choking
on the promises
of your never-ending
refrain
