Like a Weed

Between sidewalk cracks,
Sweet Alyssum and Milkweed sprout;
here -
where earth reclaims herself,
I find resolve.

Two a.m., hour of never-sleep;
I sneak out, watering can in hand,
sprinkle life into places where,
tomorrow, you’ll come,
armed with spade and poison.

I watch from bay windows
and while you busy yourself,
I tiptoe to yard’s end,
blowing wishes to dandelions.

This is precious! Many weeds are so beautiful and even the ones that aren't I feel sorry for them! There in the garden they get pulled out by their roots, are poisoned and reviled, while the pretty flowers are fed and treated with such care---
talk about the inequality of birth! I wonder if there is such a thing as reincarnation in the plant world?!? Hm! I just noticed that the word "carnation" is contained in the word "reincarnation"!---I guess that gives me my answer! Skunk cabbage may come back as a beauteous rose!

I loved how you wrote this poem and your unique perspective.

I like this very much, Corinne. *S* An old professor of mine said a weed was any plant growing where it wasn't wanted... I have definite problems destroying anything I consider beautiful. *S* My brother-in-law long ago gave up on eradicating dandelions... those are "wish flowers" and carefully guarded. *G*

(smiles) Oh Corinne, this is wonderful, I actually love plenty of weeds, especially dandelions, and there are only a few weeds I don't like, for I love most weeds as they truly spread much creation and I think are commonly mistaken for other unique flowers that he creates for us all! (kiss on cheek) I love this, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Corinne

This is just how I feel...wish I had written it.  Wrote something similar a while back:

Take the Johnny-jump-up
in the crack of the highway
nodding with the passing car
testing the purity of innocence

Loved your poem!
