It was a silly disagreement
a stupid little fight
still it was enough
to keep me up last night
you didn't even touch me
or hold me in your arms
nor tell me that you loved me
or try to keep me warm
you huddled in a corner
on your side of the bed
wrapped in your own blanket
from your feet to head
I tried to go to sleep
pretend I didn't care
ignore your total presence
as though you were not there
but I heard you breathing
your heart beat nice & sound
your every other sigh
turning over or around
I thought that I should hit you
make you suffer just like me
instead I finally drifted off
upset, though I be
this morning was no better
averted eyes & mumbled words
no "kisses" or "I love you's"
in this room was heard

but that's ok...

I promise you, this evening
when you walk through that door
we're going to make up, baby
til the moon will shine no more
you're going to need your saturday
for more than weekend rest
I think I'm going to have to put
your stamina to test
and after all the passion
has burned us both to ash
I'll tell you over & over
how long this love will last

Forever & a day,
not a minute more!

I love this poem. I have someone in my life like that. We constantly argue

but then the making up is the best part
