          ---iii---

silence is my punishment
my ode to this world
as my grim face stares
back like a reflection
greying like grief
and shedding skin
like winter leaves
falling, being felled
by nature’s wild desire

each dawn brings me
the challenges of
satisfying needs
like hunger and shelter
and each chirping bird
births a desire
to be free and unchained
to be light and moving
swift like the spring river
uncurling and adventurous

but each passing hour
births a realization
that I am still
breathing borrowed airs
with outstretched palms
begging for a smile
and my grim skin
is tattooed with tragedy

yes, the lines of fate are deep
and are written on my face
as I force myself to smile
at a little girl as she offers
her pity and a penny:
knowing little that
a true smile is
something pennies can’t buy

but she will learn
like we all learn
one way or another
for good or for worse

my memory grips me
with thoughts of then
a time when I was young
and played with frolic,
challenging fate
time and time again
and yet again

yes, it is time
for me to turn over
let sleeping dogs lie
for the good times are gone:
they disappeared long ago
and then came the soldiers
and then went the arm
and so went my chance
of a decent earned meal

and now I stand
(like a tombstone
rooted to its spot)
here on the street--
with wandering thoughts
passing by the stone-hedge
that has formed in my head --
breathing borrowed airs
with outstretched palms
begging for a smile

a true smile is
something pennies can’t buy
I could picture it all,
and having not read
the parts one or two...I must do so now.

very touching words, Sudhir

(big hugggsssss) Oh Sudhir, I believe that life is all about multiple reincarnations, peeling like a snake layers of times away until we uncover the true gist in our hearts, where we find peace in our own hearts! (sigh) This is powerful, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sudhir, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Sudhir

You are looking into the dark to find the light....it hurts to read and must have hurt to write.  Just keep breathing!

Wishing you well, my friend.
