heres the link to Captains challenge request:
/pip/Forum7/HTML/000505.html

~~~~~~~~~~~~
thank you Ron...for the inspiration ...
most of all for your Iambe series...and the way it makes this moth feel...no one writes her like you.
~~~~~~~~~

Snake Charmer

I'll never forget the first
time I laid eyes on Jake,
Iambe and Dillion's older brother.

He blew in unexpectedly
on a sultry summers breeze.
Tanned and tattooed ...
cowboy hat, blue jeans and boots.
He gave off an intensity like a
Texas tire fire.

He rarely wore more than jeans,
that tan and those tattoos.
He broke in his Levis like he did
the broncs and the women.

He never left the rodeo without the prize ...
never left the bar without skinned knuckles
and the girl on his arm.

He was one of the few men I'd ever seen
who could look Iambe in the eye and see
respect returned.

I'll never forget the last time I saw Jake either.
Iambe and I walked up on him swimming in
the lake, nothing on but that tan.

He just stood, strolled up the bank to his clothes,
smiling like the rattlesnake tattoo on his backside.
He pulled on his boots and jeans, tipped his hat,
winked at us and sauntered on down the dirt road.

As I watched him walk away ...
I remember wishing with a vengeance
to be a tattoo in my next life.

about time you got this posted over here!!!
(chuckling)

Like your take on Iambe's relatives! Good stuff JM... now can you write him again? Can you build him into his own as a character that you can use? I bet you can!

Thanks Ron...
I was hesitant to post this as I have been gone for a couple weeks and havent been able to do many replies...I'm so far behind in here, but I couldnt resist the chance to try and pay tribute to your series that so many of us have come to enjoy so much.

As for Jake being a muse....
well what moth can resist a cowboy

Ron...if she can't 'use' him, I sure can! LOL.

Janet Marie~
I'm loving this from you.
Love the picture you've painted in words, and
gotta love the tan and jeans.
Got me chuckling at the thought of being a tattoo
in your next life.  You'd be one HAPPY tattoo! LOL.
Thanks for sharing this one, poet friend.

I love the way you painted this older brother.  I wonder how many children will end up in this family?  Really good to see you here in open!!

WOW Jan, this is different of poetry for you.
I can see that the ocean air agreed with your muse.

"He gave off an intensity like a
Texas tire fire.

He broke in his Levis like he did
the broncs and the women."

"He never left the rodeo without the prize ...
never left the bar without skinned knuckles
and the girl on his arm.

and the last line, a classic
"As I watched him walk away ...
I remember wishing with a vengeance
to be a tattoo in my next life.

This is fantastic Eve-a-gator. Keep writing free verse. THis one's a keeper.

awwww... you'd make such a cute tattoo too! (tattoo too - wow, that's an odd pairing...) hey - uhm, i, uh... noticed something about this poem... struck me right off, and stuck with me straight through... IT DOESN'T RHYME!!! (insert evil, repetitive laughter here).

likes it mothy you... the end line is wonderful, packing a punch and sticking to the skin (ok, pun intended) like a last line should.

Hmmm... it's not the sun scorching that lake causing all the steam. *S* You mastered rhyme long ago... now you're getting VERY good at free verse. *S*

Forgive me for taking so long to come back to this and thank you two...I had some server troubles off and on for the last few days.....

Chris....why am I NOT surprised YOU noticed the lack of rhyme....SO...does that mean you will try rhyming  just to show me up ???
thank you poet sir for coming by and peeking at the tats. LOL
so glad you enjoyed. ..you can pun me anytime.

Ruth-girlie.....thank you so much for your kind compliments...I am enjoying free verse...it doesnt work me mothy muse as hard ..LOL...I was hoping to try and capture the style that Ron does so very well with his "less is more" and imagery...
and of course those closing summation lines of impact that he always knocks me out with. I heard you were feeling under the weather...hope youre doing better now...
the werk monster will miss you

thanks to all for your replies and again to Ron for the inspire.

Bae and Walter..thank you for taking the time and effort to find me on back pages...I dont post very often anymore due to a moody muse and time constraints here that take me away from the poetry.

Walter..any time you wish to write will be welcomed.

thank you both.
