They promised:
pristine atmospheres
crystalline seas.
Diaphanous nights
rosette sunsets under
twin blue suns
No more  rumble of canon
no more the cracking of guns.

They offered:
Clear Emerald oceans
Blue Crystalline skies
limitless horizons
Dusks undisturbed
Life immortal
Time travel portals
Never-ending elation....

Everything was assured with benevolent intonation.

We disbanded our armies
our weapons we destroyed
for the promised
peace and the blessed joys.

Now we crave:

Unshackled ankles
Uncollared necks
Whips that don't score us
Lips that don't sneer
Force-fielded cities to
Protect us once more.
Death of their laughter.

War!

[The poem is based on a Twighlight Zone episode by that name.]

“There’s a sign post up ahead!”
“You are now entering the Twighlight Zone

Those stories really left you with a lot to think about?
I loved all of them.

I hope that aliens don’t want to eat us? But even we/us
as intelligent beings crave for the taste of certain things.

I like what you have cooked up here!

Hi!

Yes, many of those stories impressed me.
Actually, the original, from which the TZ version was derived, appeared as a short story printed and published as part of a sci-fi paperback anthology. It depicted the aliens as small pig-like creatures dressed in tight, black, shorts! LOL

The makers of the Twighlight Zone version chose to depict them as rather tall, white-robe-garbed, emaciated, and somewhat taciturn, sleep-deprived (judging by the bags and dark circles under their eyes which of course could have been due to indigestion) beings.

Perhaps the lesson of the story is that we should be very careful in whom we place our trust. We could very well wind up on their menu!

Thanks for the feedback!

Wow!
What a shocker that was!
And they had the audacity to give it to the humans for interpretation as well!
Guess they figured by the time  humans deciphered it second servings would be about to be offered.
