Just so that all may know, this poem is not necessarily anti-war or anti-American, it is Pro-Life. I consider myself very lucky to be an American.

------------------

"You babykillers!"
"Take our troops out of Vietnam!"
"Man, no more murder!"
"Racist bastards!"
"Man, it's just not groovy,
what they're doin' over there,
it's jive, it's not hip."
"Make love, not war!"
"Get out of my face, fuzz!
Murderers!"
"The rich make the poor
man's war!"
"Oh, hey baby, c'mon, get
in on this action. It's grooving.
What? You sure? Damn, what
a bummer. How long?
Two months... heavy. Babe, I don't dig
this. It's not my bag, so here's some bread,
go get it fixed, there's a
yo-yo doctor on
75th and main, he'll
set you up. This swinging?
Cool. You're a far out chick.
Bring Lady Snow with you
when you come back,
and some better condoms. Cool?
Right on."
"Green pigs! Oil-chasers!
Stop Vietnam! Stop
the killing!"
"Make love, not war!"
"Take that, you frigger!"
"Hey man, can you lay me down
with some angel mist?"
"You babykillers!"

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean. You don't think that I am anti-American, do you? Goodness, I hope not. This is a Pro-Life poem, pointing out certain hypocrisies.

But even if this poem had been anti-American, your response would still have been inappropriate. If you disagree with the viewpoint given in a poem, either you give a nonbiased review of that poem, or you don't respond to it. Whatever you do, you certainly do not tell the poet to leave his own country.
