Matted hair plastered her face
Her black knit cap, well worn
Shoe shells around her ankles
Soles gone, exposing corns

The storefront light her reading lamp
An old brick wall her desk
Late nights, just around the corner
She'd seek the ground for rest

I've seen her life, a tattered pad
Pages dirty and worn thin
Night and day she'd sit there and scribe
Tired dribblings from a cracked pen

She'd talk as if a crowd drew near
Animated laughter and sighs
Sometimes, when you look real close
You see tears in her homeless eyes

Hey dog, did you see the size of that chicken!?

That's beautiful. I really loved the image, how descriptive it was. Great emotion attached to this.

Kris, Mike is going to appreciate this one so very much!  You took a difficult line, and wrapped it up in emotion of humankind...

Bravo!

OK, my problems have suddenly gone away.
I think it's safe to say you've met your challenge,
and you met it quite well.

Excellent!

Kris,
I have seen her around L.A.,
sadly.

In many faces.

Thanks for this.

Krishankins,

You describe this soul so perfectly. "There but for the grace of god go I"

One of the most touching and best poems I've read lately.
