Listen, Remember? Coming down the road this twisted metal thing all squeal of corners in the night the motor felt like silver and rust I saw a wink of a girl barely tall with hair of spiked silk she was color treated with the gold and auburn of her purr and wrapped in silver rings this was in my mind you see just a probability that night brought to my vision as I lay breathing in sound hearing the crack of the sky where some swift star drank it was more than likely a guy or two making muscle noise with rev of gears passing by where the princess lives just two doors down her dove eyes quiet and asleep on virgin pillow feather filled listen I have heard this song before with the radio turned up to the drums and just that throb in belly as the night forgets curves and listens to the beat in a place I thought of as safe caught in a crease of fabric folded with a piece of lint in time remember? You have caught that moment where time and space and sound and heat and dust all come together on a note of music or a screech of tires, and suddenly you listen, remember... and you blink and you smile and then walk on. |

You have me in awe once again Martie. Wonderful write. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |

Martie - a wonderful poem truly in the great Martie style - wrapping words and feelings around me as I digest the thoughts and scenes you weave - loved it - Paul [This message has been edited by Goodknight (09-27-2002 11:28 AM).] |

she was color treated with the gold and auburn of her purr and wrapped in silver rings her dove eyes quiet and asleep on virgin pillow feather filled in a place I thought of as safe caught in a crease of fabric folded with a piece of lint in time Martie, there are some excellent and vivid descriptions, I can almost feel the night breeze on my skin as ai watch this beautiful scene unfold. Too early for the rainbow, too early for the dove These are the final days, this is the darkness, this is the flood |
