There are spices in the air
and flies that buzz the marketplace.
"Gibber" is the language spoke--
as August reeks of his despair.

There's incense and there's tambourine--
ribbons frolicking in wind.
The smell of fruit and musk of dream.
Here, reality can end...

Lose the lover of the coin,
sample this--acquired taste?
Choose an apple and purloin
just to know the thrill of chase.

Take these bracelets from my arms--
undo the bindings of my grave.
I would grant you all my charms--
one last sale to free the slave.

(are you saying Michael smells????   ….sorry, couldn’t resist!! )

Love this picture of the market…makes me picture a scene in Morocco or some exotic place.  A fitting image to tie up the last stanza.

Wonderful images to go along with the art of the marketplace...for who knows what is really for sale...and it is up to us to discern whether or not there is magic in the air!

Sen,
If only finding a new life
were as easy
as shopping for it.

Loved the spice
and the rumble.
