This is a poem which I wrote shortly after my older son died.
I think I posted the original version here a long time ago but, couldn't find it on the smartsearch...
This is the re-write... and I'd like to dedicate it to our friend Larry C.

~The Poet's Soul~

This poet's soul is wracked with pain
streams of verse, flow it sane
passions penned into grace of rhyming
become a shoulder for hurt and pining

the ache of loss, too hard to bear
scrawled on paper, tender prayer

without a glance between the lines
this poet's world appears benign
but neath the fathoms of tomorrow
lie wrinkles of pain and folds of sorrow

this poet's heart and soul are broken
by anguished echoes of grief, unspoken

two of life's precious loves forsaken
in a wink of an eye, their lives were taken
and so, for this poet's unspeakable grief
the ink flows tears of sweet relief
~

that is beautiful, and I'm sure it's a tender hug, in words, for Larry.
And you, dear friend, have a really huge heart for such a little bitty chipmunker.

Lyra,
Grief and sorrow, twin aches of the heart,
Could be enough to tear one apart.
But I won't let it pull me under,
I'll break through like a roar of thunder!

A boisterous response to a gentle write I know. Hard to accept that the ones you love feel you have left them out.

Thank you so much for thinking of me. Your support will always mean so much.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Thanks so much, Larry...
I'm glad you liked the poem...
I wrote it shortly after Eric died, while I was still in a state of disbelief...
I've re-written the poem, but could not re-write history... they are both still gone.
Its still hard for me to accept that Eric died so soon after his Dad...
But you had an even shorter time, between the deaths of 2 very precious loved ones...

Please watch your health, Larry...  I really think this is what made me sick.  I never even had a strep throat before in my whole life...
So, its important to take care of yourself and also to cry on as many shoulders as you need to cry on... and write... write... write...  You were given a magical talent and now is the time to use it to sooth your soul.
~ loving, healing hugs

Your spirit is so compassionate, so true
All the powers of beyond have blessed you

Your words touch me and are so alive
Expressions buried in muse once again survive

I have come back in need of air
Thank you little chipmunk for being there!

Lyra, this is so beautiful. I know how hard it is to accept the death of a loved one.

(tears fall down my cheeks) God Bless You, sweet friend, I know it must have taken so many tears and strength to write this and I know just as your first husband and son will always love you so much and never forget you that this will touch Larry's heart as Ginger and his dad will always love him and guide him from above! (BIG HUGGGSSSSS) God Bless You, sweet friend, you and Larry are two of the most loving friends I have ever known, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
