The Rusty Reds Of A Barren Sea |

Dark cirrus clouds of silver lighting grey, Smoke wearily over a mist covered horizon Shrouding autumns kiss of death dispersed patterns, Leading summers vegetative greens to bronze and wizen. Centered upon a hidden hilltop clearing, Poised stationary on an ancient forest green mound Rests an old oak dressed with times deteriorating weatherment, And a secrets hidden tragedy housed beneath clay earthed ground. Widened strenghtly from years of soiled establishment, The oaks sienna bark branches flourish subtly in the breeze Silently dropping the life of springs abandonment, Plummeting into the endless array of a rusty reds barren sea. Dressed to match with mother natures painted elegance The small boy tugs at a string dangling from the hood of his coat His chocolate lab onlooking inquisitive of his actions Shielding the chilled wind a knots tied at the mid of his throat. Perched below the outgrowth of the oaks forsaken lair The two stand side by side overlooking a granite stone Reflecting back on last Autumns still unforgiven punishment When both learned of caring and the struggles of suffering alone. Quietly brushed aside, the turning memories of a haunted season The young boy lounges against depressions birth so wide His tears plummeting into the endless array of a rusty reds barren sea With a chocolate lab for comfort and a fathers soul nestled side by side. This is wonderful! A painting done with words. Your imagery is so strong and clear that I saw the dog and the boy. Well done! |

Strong in metaphor, strong in emotion and imagery! I can tell the boy and the lab are mourning, together, but at the end, it almost seemed there had been another chocolate lab and it is with the boy's father..."nestled side by side." Am I understanding that part correctly? Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

I was there! You brought me there with your colorful and detailed descriptions. The ending caught my breath---so sad, so poignant. Very well done. I enjoyed this poem. Earth Angel |

*taking Bows* Thank you Thank you Thank you =) My endings are always a little shaky, mostly because I never really want to just stop a piece. If I could make them on going I would. There is only supposed to be one chocolate lab however. |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Amy, this is so sad but powerful, sweet friend, I understand this boys despair because in my childhood September too was always my most depressing month! (sigh) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Amy, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you!
