~Taking Flight~

I can't forget that moment
when it was as if the chains
finally broke
and the dark clouds
finally lifted
giving away
to the brightness       of day,

the answer
hidden in the dark skies
only needed to find
that ray of sunshine
to make it reach
further
than it ever had      before

likened to the light
breaking upon a new day
its message arose       so clear
and like a butterfly    taking flight
for the first time

a heart finally found its way~
to forgiveness.

If I have touched one heart through my words, then I have acheived my dream...

What a beautiful poem.  This made me smile on the inside.  I especially like the butterfly reference.

What a wonderful feeling, Donna...
An uplifting poem of lifted burdens and it reminds me of a smile wrapped around a rainbow.

I like this, Donna, how the path to forgiveness begins with the burst of chains
and the looking forward to a fresh day.
Yes!  that is it!  When each day, you find
you look forward to, i think the healing
is finally over.

I do not believe that the release of pain that forgiveness can bring to the forgiver, can be explained any better than you have just done.

To "forgive those who trespass against us", is one of the greatest gifts we can give to one's own self. Your words so eloquently display this.

I have been trying to respond to others more than replying to each response so please forgive me for the group response.  You have all gifted me so very much with your special responses and each one means so much to me in their own way.  Learning to forgive others is hard, and often times learning to forgive ourselves can be even harder......but necessary.  Sometimes when we just keeping reaching for the light it finally shows itself to us in the most unexpected way

and this it did indeed.  Thank you all so very much.

There is much to be learnt from your words here. Well done, and keep reaching for the light!
