O' Gentle Rose, why did you flee,
Before sun's warmth could set thee free?
Thy tender bud in darkness kept,
While muses mourned and angels wept.
O' father dear, why do you weep,
Do not you know I ever sleep?
In a garden high above,
Nurtured by a boundless love.
O' Gentle Rose, for thee I cry,
As I shall 'til day I die,
Then I'll journey to the light,
To join your bloom in heaven's bright.

Beyond green meadow on distant hill,
Upon the clouds that float so still,
Doth toll the bells, a faith now shaken,
A Gentle Rose, by light now taken.
A bud so fair, in silence lays,
Amid the chant as sinner prays,
A sad lament to beauty lost,
'Tis fairest flower to first feel frost.
Come hither angels from on high,
A tender bud in tomb doth lie,
O' Gentle Rose, in sweetness sleep,
Upon the wings of angel's keep.

Do you hear the snowflakes falling,
Upon your cold and silent tomb?
Do you hear my heartbreak calling,
To Gentle Rose, my precious bloom?
I thought you were forevermore,
Until the night, were stole away,
Now forever, means nevermore,
Except your void, pain's here to stay.
I kneel alone, my soul disguised,
In center of life's barren stage,
Forgotten lines now improvised,
My scripted heart, a worn blank page.
O' Gentle Rose, as snowflakes fall,
On bended knee, to thee I call.

In the garden daffodils,
As the wind in silence stills,
Comes first hush of evening's skies,
While high above an angel cries.
O' Gentle Rose, thy precious bloom
A springtime past from mother's womb,
Rent by storms of worldly pain,
Ever shall with us remain,
Amid the glory of the garden,
As we seek of mercy's pardon,
For our failures in thy caring,
Ever in our sorrow sharing.

Two years have passed since Gentle Rose has died,
Since dirges played and silent mourners cried,
When does the pain release it viselike grip,
Upon mine soul, let loose this sinking ship?
Within her empty room, as empty days
In silent scream, black pain does overwhelm,
No where I sail, no Captain at the helm,
O' Gentle Rose, why won't you set me free,
I beg of you, why won't you answer me?
Do not you hear, I sing your hymns of praise?
Upon my knees, I seek you sweet bouquets,
O' Gentle Rose, you bud will never bloom,
But yet I fear, 'tis I within the tomb.

Gentle Rose, forever I will remember,
Thy perfect grace, asleep in final slumber,
Angelic face, upon death's pillow lay,
As mourners weep and silent dirges play,
Cries of grief and sorrow, silence of the tomb,
What requiem, for Rose that ne'er will bloom?

What bell doth toll the passing of a child?
A life so young, so pure... unreconciled
That death should grasp her now with remorse,
Just as her life sets sail its rocky course.
Come Terpsichore, and sing your songs of dance
And curse the evil Thanatos whose lance
Strikes deep into the mourner's grieving soul.
Rise up I pray, her beauty I extol,
A Gentle Rose, whose beauty graced this earth,
A loving soul, so caring full of mirth,
I beg of thee, no songs of sorrow weep,
But shout our hymns of praise, so all might keep,
Her in our hearts forever, for we have known
A Gentle Rose, that God now calls his own.

O' father dear, do thee still weep,
Do not you know I ever sleep?
In a garden high above
Nurtured by a boundless love.
O' Gentle Rose, I hear thy voice,
And in its calm I feel rejoice,
As I kneel by grave's cold stone,
I know that I am not alone,
For I see thy radiant bloom,
Through the darkness of the tomb,
In the glory of the light,
Upon the wings of angel's flight.

this poem radiates with a loving grace...it is one to be read aloud and reread...it is a "forever" poem, so beautifully written.

Tim - a very heartfelt piece. Enjoyed. Chris

I could take hours to worship this properly...and still, I wouldnt do its poetic gifts, nor its beauty and grace justice.
So...I hope you will know my intend when I say ....
thank you Poet Sir, for proving my point for me.
I want to write like this when I grow up.
