She sat quite naked in the center of the rug
Idly thumbing through an old magazine

While I lay against the headboard
Admiring my new infatuation

Blue moonlight spilling in the window
Made her pale skin appear translucent
Long yellow hair turned white

She soon looked up from her “reading”
Looked into my eyes
And started to sing
In a soft clear voice

“Oh, Carey, get out your cane”

A Joni Mitchell song

“and I’ll put on some silver”

Bestowing upon me

“Oh, you’re a mean old daddy”

A rare and precious gift

“but I like you”

And in that moment

“I like you”

Felt utterly

“I like you”

In reply to "which way do we go?", the answer was never "straight", but, "progressively forward".

You are one of the few men I have er.."encountered" that will tolerate Joni Mitchell...roflmao...I have EVERYTHING by her, and? alas, I have to wait until all the men leave, then I shut the curtains and sit here in the dark---and pretend...

and I HAVE a mean old daddy, and E? you AIN'T one!

Now I will be singing that song all night and working HIS nerves...chuckle...thanks, I have fun with the more subtle forms of torture!

came back to sing for Helen too:

"You're in my blood like holy wine--
you taste so bitter, and so sweet...
Oh I could drink a case of you
and I would still be on my feet."

(Helen? I sent that one to Rich and he was CONVINCED of my insanity--what izzit with men and Joni Mitchell? sigh...)

ooops...and Ed...did I forget to say that you absolutely charmed me with this one?

There was this guy? And he had the best blues collection (vinyl of course) and he would always fall asleep first (of course again--sigh) and would wake to find me totally nude but for the headphones...thumbing through his collection. Which was off limits as it was quite a valuable collection of original presses, most signed by some pretty dead folks...chuckle...and I always woke him, because I would forget and sing along...thanks for that memory, which was just misfiled somewhere in that vacuous brain cave o mine... hugs.

"oh, i wish i had a river
i could skate away on
i wish i had a river so long
i would teach my feet to fly
oh, i wish i had a river
i could skate away on"

"looking for something what can it be
oh i hate you some, i hate you some
i love you some
oh! i love you when i forget about me
i want to be strong, want to laugh along
i want to belong to the living"

sigh sigh sigh

If you think people have a hard time with Joni Mitchell,
try Kate Bush.

Loved the poem, Wranx.

Whoa, baby! I stopped breathing. You captured that moment in time with the gentle kiss of your words.

Your appreciation of women comes shining through---and I, as a woman, appreciate that!
