  A Sense of Coyote

Yesterday
she stood watching the hill
sniffing the burning sage
her fur ruffled by hot wind

In her gold eyes a yucca spike candle reflected
flashed high
then died

In the shadow
cast by last night’s moon
a song that was coyote born
dropped in requiem
across the valley
touching a strand of trees
that used to be

Touching me

Yesterday
for one glorious moment
a grove of fir trees lit the sky
their flame a torch
for them I cry with her
a sound by feral stirred

Coyote searches for shade or glade
but waving water has been licked dry by flame
there is nowhere to hide and no rain

But her sense of past recalls the chill
of running water still

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Martie, this is excellent, I have always admired the coyote so very much, as like wolves I find them to be very wise and cunning and spiritually they are atone with the canyon, almost like shamans of the desert who speak of the past knowledge of the earth so well! (sigh) This is marvelous, sweet friend, I wish too for the water to again flow through the arroyo for the coyotes, God Bless You, this is sensuous and painted beautifully, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Martie, I heard those coyotes in this one, same as I remember when I lived in So Cal, my original home state.
A twinge of homesickness just hit me.

Here I am listening to the theme song of
"Titanic" which touches me when I hear it
and trying to read a poem which touched
me ever so deeply as well....misty eyes
and a chill...is me...

Thanx dear one for this poem...

Martie, what can I say? This poem is
both haunting and beautiful. Loved it.

How hauntingly lovely, Martie. I hope you are not near this fire. One thing about Cali, the damn fire.

Martie...I feel your pain for the beautiful trees and animals lost to the raging fires in your most beautiful state. I had the pleasure of living out there for one year and yearn to return. I think that when I pass on I want my ashes spread amongst the trees and mountains that will forever be in my mind.About a month ago I wrote a poem titled "Gentle Giants" when the Red Wood trees were in danger of being lost to the fires. Thank You for a sad but caring poem. Right now in Louisiana we are having a tropical storm, I wish that I could send all the rain to you to end the fires...Paul

Martie - being in Arizona I can see the imagery of this writing. The desert is beautiful in its own way, and the coyote is there...

Just a few words Martie.

Incredible, Tender, Soulful, A touch of "wild" of mystery of verse.

Okay, guess it was more than a few.

This is a wonderful write. The images were pure and I could see this "sense of coyote".
