And Life Goes On (For The Babies Of 9/11/01) The world, in shock, could not believe While I, in silence, softly grieved He and the child he’d helped conceive For life went on He just buried in the tomb I held his child, safe in my womb Though feared the future’s unknown gloom But life went on In the winter’s discontent While bitter memories left me spent Unnoticed, the days came and went And life went on Within my nest you, sheltered, grew My grief and joy shared by so few And I both loved and hated you As life went on You kicked; you made your presence known Part of us both, but yet your own Planted in love, in sorrow grown And life went on Till slowly my grief was replaced With dreams of how your tiny face Would look like his and mine both laced As life went on Then one day in springs warm morn Wailing, kicking, you were born Out of the past, the future torn And life goes on ~ Ruth [This message has been edited by hoot_owl_rn (09-10-2002 08:04 PM).] |

I should have known to have a handkerchief ready, and yet, I went in, unafraid to shed the tears... you, with your compassion, your love of children, always know how to make the rest of look to you for the deepest heart... thank you, dear Ruth... |

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Ruth, that is what aches me the most about September 11, I think about the children and how we are going to protect them from this media and tears and help them grow so in the future they can step with hope and bring new love and replenishing to this world and especially to our children who have lost their own mom or dad in this tragedy! (wipes tears) I pray to God every night to guide them with dear life and to be safe and secure, sweet friend, you are a true angel, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ruth, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! That is so sad how some babies never get to see their fathers because of 9/11. Good write. Cold hands means a warm heart |

I have goosebumps!!!!! (That means it was really really really good) I loved this piece. We speak so much of the victims that lived through it, now we must think of those that live with it. I don't even know what else to say, it was beautiful and heartwrenching - I loved it and I hope it reaches the mothers of those children, they need to read it. |

A touching and heartfelt piece Ruth ... indeed "life goes on" and with it ... the memories remain embedded in our hearts forever. Beautifully written, my friend. Best wishes and hugs to all, on this day of remembrance, /Kit |

Thank you all...with any luck, these children will not be blemished the remainder of their lives by the grief caused by others. |

How this makes one want to reach out to a child and just hold them close and never let them go. I know that is exactly what I wanted to do at that moment. This a heart breaking read with a message of hope in new life. Very well done. |

Ruth, it is so sad to think of all of the lives that were lost that day. To think of all of the children who will grow up without their mother and fathers is even sadder. This is so touching. And beautiful. |

So many victims, Ruth, and only some of them died. Only your excellent mind could have penned this one... |
