This one was too much fun! A poetry class assignment was to use "war, flowers, cider, and grasshopper" in any order in a poem. Insecticide as Opposed to Homocide Sippin’ cider on the lawn in the early risin’ dawn by the flowers in the bed chattin’ poetry with Ted. All at once there was a roar we both looked to see, “What for?” There across the span of green, it was quite a grisly scene. Tobaccy juice was left and right it was such a horrid sight. Yet we knew at one glance by the firm of their stance, that the jay and the gull had made grasshoppers null. Their beaks coated in black evidenced their war attack. Ted and I knew without doubt as our stomachs reamed out, cider’d never be the same gull and jay were to blame. So we packed up all our gear and we moved to the rear, grabbing hoses near the house giving lawn a heavy douse. We washed away all evidence begging gull for recompense and from jay a solemn oath a “Nevermore,” Raven quoth. ©September 9, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, I'll seek the lighthouse evermore. Who would've thunk it?---- that a piece of poetry such as this, could've been born out of such words! Well done! Linda |

I'm glad you have so much fun with poetry, Virginia. I have fun reading it, too Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write. |
