the book lay
open
pages withered
by time
words faded to
soft brown

the corner
folded
marking the page
where the story
took a dramatic
turn

the page
spotted with
tears
by the reader
left behind
wondering

the story
a lonely tale
of a poet
smiling but
hiding the tears
of her pain

in this tome
this mask of text
lies the heart
of a poet
lonely
bereft

(big hugggssssss) Oh Sharon, I too have these days so very much, sweet friend, I smile because I am optimistic but I have all these stories of tears that haunt me lodged within I slowly prepare one by one! (sigh) This is excellent, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sharon

I think you captured the mask of many who hide behind or within a book.  Great Write!

I came looking for this one...reminds me of Emily Dickinson, as YOU do, in so many ways...loved the description of the book here, and I happen to know you own a few just like that!

Loved this.

Love you.

PoetdeVine~
Made me want to pick up that book ...
touch the dog-earred page and feel the tears left behind~

I've got a few of those well-loved books~
Each time I open one of them ... the voices speak out from the past~

You captured a special moment very well~

there really seem to be no words that come to mind that can speak of the exquisiteness of this piece. Poet, may I keep a copy? Please e-mail your answer. I think this would be an excellent piece to ponder many times. There could be many messages within its folds.

If this is forced, may the force always be with you.
This is quite good.
