Sugar-Coated Fancies

since I’ve maters
planted in me yard
and I’ve got some taters
to serve up wi’ some chard

I find meself more ready
to be seein’ autumn’s
sweet sugar-coated fancies
in a morning’s hoarfrost

when all the leaves and stems
and the trees and shrubs around
are coated in a glist’ning frost
from their tops down to the ground

it’s like a fairy land
if ye duno’ hae to drive
an’ you’re not a countin’ on
your veggies to survive

when ever’thin’s covered
as with a sweet doughnut’s glaze
in a sugar-coated frosting
of a pre-winter’s phase

when ye slip on wool stockin’s
to warm up your toes
and reflected in the mirror
is a rosied up nose

your granny has her shawl
wrapped close around her ears
as ye snuggle by the fire
in that lovely atmosphere

This is a delightful piece--and I like how your sense of humour comes shining through.

Nice brouge Vas! This is a great write, although I'm not sure if I'm quite ready for winter yet...Sometimes I DO have to drive in it**sigh** oh well, I DO enjoy cuddles by the fireplace!!
