A Life Without You

Since the day you decided to leave
After the first two weeks went by
Not even knowing the reason you left
I no longer ask myself for the reason why

It had become so much clearer to me
I would be a whole lot better off without you
That you would no longer be there to prevent me
From doing all of the things I have wanted to do

I started looking forward to a life without you
Not having you there to make so many demands on me
Being able to do the things I always wanted to do
With a life to where I would once again be free

Sue, too often the first step away is the
hardest one to take....But, so very often,
the ones after it are much more sure and
light in step...as your own are becoming..

SmartChick - I've read your poems for a while, and you are getting stronger with your thoughts. It's very difficult to let go, but with time the pain eases...
