FRECKLE FACE |

Seldom in my childhood, Was I referred by name, Kids just called me "Freckle Face" And I'd hang my head in shame. I hated all my freckles, So Mom would often say, "Sweetheart, they're your beauty spots And you look so cute this way". But still I felt so ugly, With brown spots on my face, Since sunshine made them come out more, I'd seek a shady place. Then one day a light went on, Inside my freckled head, If I had lots and lots of spots, I'd have a tan instead! So I head out in the sunshine, On a long hot summer day, But all I got was a painful burn And more spots on display! Mom said not to fret them so, For they would fade with time, And now that that has come to pass, I miss those spots of mine! When I look back in retrospect, I really was quite pretty, Too bad I didn't know that then, And that is such a pity. Now I have a daughter, In pigtails and pink bows, And she certainly is beautiful With those spots upon her nose! She says she hates her freckled face, So, as my Mom would say, "Sweetheart, they're your beauty spots And you look so cute this way!" I still enjoy my sunkisses...and I've noted in my many years that people that GET to have them? Also have a lot of character! |

Wow, I really can relate to this, I miss my freckles that used to be on my face. I still have them all over my arms, but somehow those are not the same. I like Sunshine's term, sun kisses. That's what they are and so, there are no more sun kisses on my cheeks. Wow, I could really get depressed so I think I'll stop here. Just know I loved your poem as you wrote it extremely well. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

My 12 year old Timothy has a face full of them...and he is still a handsome little man... My daughter Ashley (9) has some on her nose, so cute...and a few around her eyes...simply awesome... SOooooo....they ain't so bad after all... And (even though you don't have a pic here) I am sure your complexion turned out quite fine.. Love this poem...very well written and so very true... |

Sunshine---I agree with VAS---I love your reference to freckles as "sun kisses"! With a name like Sunshine, I have no doubt that you have been kissed by the sun---and by all your warm comments, I gather you have a sunny disposition as well! Love, Light & Lots of Sunshine Linda |

(giggles in delight) Seems like it all runs in the family, now your daughter may loathe them now but love her freckles later! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

Loner---It pleases me greatly that this poem put a smile on your face. From some of the pieces you've posted lately, I feel a smile is just what the doctor ordered! Why not try to write some feel good poetry? If I'm feeling down,I can sometimes pull myself out of the funk by writing lighter, happier poems. It's a stretch to write like that at those times, but it's amazing what can transpire----I can manifest the very thoughts I'm writing about! Love, Light & Laughter Linda |

This is a delight poem, my friend. I know how you feel about the freckles, though. I feel the same way about this darn naturally curly hair of mine. |
