She sits down and she writes.
She has nothing better to do
with her time. She writes about the girl
she is.
She's isolated herself from
everything she's know. Blue
is her new favorite color.
She lives through romantic movies,
and sappy romance books. It gives
her something to look forward to. Love.
Sadness has become her vocabulary,
though you wouldn't think it to look.
She tries to hard to appear happy,
buoyant, and energetic. She acts well.
She long for love, yet holds back.
To her, rejection is inevitable.
People tell her
that she is beautiful,
but she shrugs it off, not believing.
She watches other happy pairs
with a feeling
of despair.
One day, she tells herself, you will be happy.
Just hang on.
If only she would take her own advice.
Instead, she sits and she writes. Writes about
the girl she is.
She is ME
