ISSUES Dangling from the end of a hollowed out pen is my love, waiting to be inhaled and exhaled by you And 'abused by you' is a term that's found its way into my everyday vocabularly. Narrowed pupils and a cleaning spree are what have taken the place of me How good that must make me feel It's unreal the things you've said to me You justify it with wobbly excuses and accuse me of being useless if I just...can't...do...this anymore I'm sorry that I don't fit into you're new tin foil coil or maybe I'm not or maybe I'm just mad that I can't get you to stop Drop the facade of being happy when youre just living from hit to hit hoping to get.......HiGh I applaud your composure under such over-exposed exposure when the sirens blared and the consequences reared thier ugly heads I'm glad your not dead I'm glad I don't dread a phone call telling me you said you'd be here in the middle of the night which would only cause a fight between me and the caller who just happens to be your father who just happens to expect me to be able to psychically see where you are at all times like he actually thinks you're still mine And regardless of how much you've hurt me jerked me, around I've found that when I see your face misplaced, as it is I can't help but miss everything about you because despite all these issues ---------I love you--------- And I can't stand to turn around and see your hand raise up and cup that lighter I thought you were a fighter but I guess I was wrong It's been so long since I've been right and I just dont think I can do this again tonight. You underline my questions with a stream of smoke then conveniently forget that I even spoke I hope, that when you come back down come back around that you'll sound sincere, it's been a whole long year since I've believed you, oh but god I've wanted to. We've weathered some rough storms together but I'm not sure if we'll make it through this one politely, I'll excuse myself from the conversation so I don't have to hear about you're escapades, daily crusades to escape from drug raids without getting 'pinched' and I'm incensed that you would actually try to get me to look in your eyes just so you can lie a little bit more so I'll let you walk out that door with four people you've never even met Hell yes I'm upset that you would turn blood-shot eyes at me and plead with me to let you take 'Just ONE more hit' I wish I could just dismiss this, us, as a mistake and pretend like it was all just a dream and now I'm awake with a clean slate and no responsibilities to you So I wouldn't have to look in those red eyes that so long ago were a beautiful blue but it's something I just can't do because even though I'm exhausted and I've just about lost it --------I love you--------- -Kris Thanks for editing this. Kristen, sometimes, even though we love a person deeply, when they're doing wrong, we cannot be their springboard into an empty pool. Sometimes, we've just got to walk away... good write...thanks! |
