Some days just the mere thought of you pushes everything else out of mind. Other times it's the past doing the pushing, the body wanting to forget the touch, the look, the almost embraces that don't come. Yesterday was like that, my eyes seeing the road ahead and my thoughts outpacing the distance of you. The heat of the day forcing its sweat upon my brow, the nape of my neck damp with anticipation. And time, always time, my enemy. Never are there enough seconds to gather the words to say, although silence on my part was the rule of the day. Too hard to make rise the want, the need, or the desire that rested quietly across from you. Watching intensely, I looked for a sign, a smile, a movement as I wanted to reach over and taste what you were tasting, sense what you were sensing, enter your mind and know the answers to all my questions. It tasted good, being with you, casually breathing in the life needs wiping away negative thoughts as I fought that which continues to haunt my being. Maybe it is that which attacks me, as if time stands still for those moments, if only to bring me back to reality, to make me appreciate each breath that I can grasp, gasp, hold in to release, release to get the next, all the while trying to keep my composure as others turn to wonder. At what point in time will I know, will it ever be synchronized, balanced, a breath to savor again, one of sweetness to share upon anothers lips and find somewhere, a holding pattern, one to sustain and comfort and always be... Some day in one instant, there will no longer be... the need to know. "Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less."
