Gather,
to fester,
the wounded animals come.
Hundreds aged and gray,
glancing backward,
coming undone.

The weak kneed,
and the suffering young.
Inexperienced,
shuttering,
dangling tongue.

Circling,
cleverly circumnavigating.
So solace,
so convenient
and apparently irritating.

Surrounding this gathering,
a chant,
a howl.
A melancholy narration
wounds ripen,
open,
so fowl.

Boasting reruns,
trite,
and disguised.
Conquering cleverly,
philosophically,
However, pseudo logically,
undermine,
determinedly.

Fashioning normality,
a combative compulsion.
Guiding them,
ancient prosecutions,
set in motion.

One,
perpetually crouching
huffs,
drools,
and always growling.

Oppositely within it's kind,
it differs in expression,
eyes glazed over,
eloquently,
reflects compassion.

Their wounds pulsing
craving,
injections.
Offerings of fairy tales,
exchange,
imaginary infections.

Operating on instinct,
condemned from the start.
Passing around the crown of thorns,
cowardly,
abort.

Separation is futile,
the medicine has been rationed.
Wounds slowly close,
memories,
rehearsed,
a coming attraction.

Ascension,
harefooted,
a defensive stance.
Clever, and quick whited
secure the herd,
ironic,
from a glance.

I don't recall this poem, M_M_B.
I do, however, like it much.
