Birched Beauty

slender and white
rising high
against fall's
bluest sky
birch beauty is splendor
in motion
commotion heaves
among fall leaves
and birch grows slowly
naked,
to await winter's gray
and starker days
to come
forever reaching upward
toward it's crown
of stardust glory
or to tickle with
skeletal fingertip
sun's chin, as an entreaty
for yet a little more shine
from which a new
dress of spring
sprung green
shall bloom,
all for the
reclothing of
the birch beauty
in splendor

Now,  I do know exactly what a Birch looks
like....Cause your brush has painted it
supremely.... You are getting pretty crafty
with your graphics and such....

Oooh, yes!
I have two weeping birches in my front yard and I enjoy their varied forms of beauty in each season.

There were times, in winter, when we first moved here, that on a clear night, as the moon shone through the bare branches, it appeared as a gigantic web. In some respects, eerie, yet an iridescence seemed to filter through.

I think they brought Frost's poem even more into focus for me, those 28 years ago and on.

Your poem is 'right on!'

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

A wonderful picture. I could see it!

In truth, what defines us is our poetry.

Beautifully descriptive Karilea ... the birch is one of my most favorite of trees ... and you've done it justice in such a majestic way.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit
