Graffiti on the plateau walls
initialed works sprayed on stalls
declarations of collected signatures
painted sun faces on mural fixtures

dedications to anonymous poets of literary quarters
of a couple relaxed in the shade of a cafe corner,
of rare amphibians on their favorite leafy growths
and 'eco-quartier' advertisements, beautifed strokes...

all developed over the need to make a statement
over the need to cover bare brick abatements
have seen them rise and reflect an early morning gloss
have seen them fade from public view at a coin's toss

grafitti on the artsy walls along the main
depicting new superheros in search of refrains...
of the squiggles that were once legible letters
an art form has arisen from fonts, breaking fetters.

A very interesting and extremely well written piece, Martin...
My late son, Eric was a graffiti artist, as well as a med student and a guitarist.
He would have loved this poem.

BRAVO!!! Oh Martin, I have found that there are some things I like about graffiti and some things I don't like about it. In some cases I like it when people rebel and paint their own messages, for somewhere in the trenches of the big city some words of value are just waiting to be understood I am sure, while of course there is a lot of jargon too, whereas the thing I don't like about it is while some things deserve to be exploited it can always lead to vandalism that causes conflicts. (sigh) This is a powerful thoight, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martin, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
