      Something In My Mind's Eye

     while walking thru memories
     on a somber colorless afternoon
     from the corner of yesterday
     a distantly lit moment glinted
     a silent movie of thought
oh, that day, in a half-life ago
I thought I had reached the edge of the world
     but the band played on

     the playfulness like adolescent otters
the exuberance that has not the time to be tired
the hopefulness that seems postered in every corner
that young man was the first car in a long train

     I miss him. . .

the wind talked in secret messages to me
and as I stood there, oblivious to a tear streak
a woman asked me if I was all right

     It's nothing, I replied
     just something
     in My Mind's Eye

ShadowRider..I absolutely love this. The things we can see if we just look with more than our eyes. A lovely piece. I've been around the world in my minds eye. You've captured your journey there.

In truth, what defines us is our poetry.

Indeed it is so, White Rose.  Perhaps a euphimism for 'Mind's Eye' is what is felt without being seen, a conscience twinge sometimes, a gut feeling, a longing without having words to describe it.

Thank you, WR, for your insightful reply,
and for understanding.  *smile*

Been absent a bit as i have been getting some things ordered in my life.  Lots of catching up to do on reading here, Nance.  But...thank you!   I will never give up on polishing this coalblack nugget of talent until it shines like a diamond at your urging.

Heeeeyyyyy Noah!!  ?Que pasa amigo?
Como asta?  You pegged it, Homiez.
Don't we all miss something about our
young life?  and dang, if it doesn't seem like a totally different person and lifetime.  For me, Noah, it's like i have lived 2 separate lives, and perhaps a 3rd is yet to come:  the older years.  Anyways.....thank you, my friend, for always listening with a soft ear.

And thats really how it feels in your mind's eye.  So beautifully descriptive...
Very well done, Jeff.

~petting the Munkster's furry widdle haid~

Thank you, Lyra.  The edge of the world is, at times, closer than we think.  But we all know it does not truly exist.  We just get close to the Mind's Eye version of it.  awwww...i am so tickled when the Chipped Munk replies!

Hope you are doing well....
and did i tell you?
Your picture is alluring....and very pretty!

I take this as a reflection into another time ...

One when things were less hectic,  less
taxing,  more relaxing.... with that youthful
stride that just doesn't step quite as well
as it once did...

If so....I UNDERSTAND more than you could
ever know...

Thanx Jeff,  for a well penned piece of your
personal heart's pie....

Jeff

The heart moves along...but holds pieces too, we don't often see them except in the minds eye.  Loved this...the ending just blew me away!
