If you can bring a sunset
to eyes that can't see,
if you can paint a rainbow
with words gracefully,
if you can create a view
with just a simple verse,
then you have a gift
that is rare on this earth.

If a masterpiece flows
not with paint but with pen,
if you can bring to mind
the sound of the rain,
if a small miracle happens
each time you write,
then you have a gift
that will always shine bright.

Your gift is a touch
that alights on a mind,
a touch that is special,
one of a kind.

among my favorite singers/songwriters is a lady named ricki lee jones. She wrote (and sang):

"Y'never know when you're making a memory."
