It’s life and we take what’s given,
So you must work for a living,
I can only freely walk the beaches for a while,
Till I need money to exist
Soon my tummy will insist,
So into the unemployment office I’ll file,
And they’ll ask what you’ve done before
Besides walking along the ocean shore,
And soon I’m waiting tables once more,
But it’s a restaurant of crabs and fish
So near the ocean I can feel the mist,
And almost hear the ocean roar,
Helping me to be putting on a smile.

Blue Kitty - a smile for Virginia, as I've lived there for a while. It's a beautiful state, and I long to go back. YOu must be near the bay, or the ocean...

The ocean, outer banks, I love it here.  Was living inland, but this is better.  And you know the motto of the state, Virginia is for Lovers

Sometimes I miss the days where all I had to worry about was me ... you've managed to bring those days back to mind with a gentle longing

Gosh, I never thought about it that way Rex.  One day I might, long for these days, but probably not for a while.  I suppose, the good old days are now when I’m looking back in a couple of Doz. Years

hey kitty, kitty...

What's this? There is a bit of hope in the dark, methinks. And I agree with Rex, that there is a certain freedom inherent as well.
Enjoyed much....and? Got milk?

Oh, not so dark, just a little blue, I guess it’s the cost of the freedom of living on your own, the loneliness.  But I don’t stay home much, I like to go out., which is why you got to work.
Beachy words, does Sandwich count as on of those?

Hey, if the Pixies can make a song about driving a car into the sea beachy and surfy, then yes, sandwich can be beachy and surfy too. (especially when all the sand sticks to the bread)

you are a silly squirrel, but I like silly too, and I don’t eat at the beach just bottled water otherwise the sand gets into your sandwich and makes it too gritty to eat.

Well, I really enjoy your poems. They remind me of many days on beaches in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. How I ended up in California is another story, entirely. But you help me remember how it feels to just lay out a towel and feel the warmth of the sun (and the eventual ache of your back ).
