The redness of the eyes had melted away with time Misty eyes sometime still appear but quickly evaporate You have been gone it seems like forever The memory still has the fragrance of having you next to me But the pillows will not work anymore for they have tired Watching TV the snacks just seem to get fatter As I fall asleep on a sofa on a regular basis Making the loneliest part of the house the bedroom Where the sheets are still ruffled And the drawers and closets still see you Having promised yourself Goodwill But the truck never seems to appear Mostly because you forget to call Hoping for a miracle We agreed that we needed our distance That things were too hectic to handle That we both needed space Now space is all I have Isolated memories wish for reconciliation But stubbornness says no My heart says yes and mind says no The hate torn into love And feelings craving release Feeling like a two sided coin Not knowing which way to fall There is a loud knock at the door Now who could this be at this hour? You slowly get up and look at the screen It says “To be continued” (Continued in “We Need Space To Come Together”) D.Lester Young (08/05/02) Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) [This message has been edited by D.Lester Young (08-06-2002 08:34 AM).] |

I enjoyed reading your poem. You reveal a beautiful sense of passion and romance through most of your lines. Some lines cut in and change the flow of the poem, and the ending wasn't fit for the poem. |
