"Death is the deprivation of sensation"
-Epicurus

I approached Bess O'Leary
before the lid was shut.

If there was a jealous god
I wanted it to see the connection.

If there was a fearful god
it would know by then my mother's mother.

I approached good Bess O'Leary
and touched her hand.

It was cold and hard.

cold and hard.

Van Gogh sold one painting, cheap
in his life and shot himself

Plath lost a father unnecessarily
and had an errant spouse.

Her cry for attention, too loud
grew cold and hard

Your silence is the pocketed stone
of Virginia Woolf's last swim,

the ever silent scream of why
in the eyes of the parents of the dead.

I need closure.
I need the words.

Lend me the spade to tamp the dirt
o'er the shallow grave of us.

Let the dry host of our communion
melt at last in my mouth.

"Happy people have no history" - French Proverb

hey sweets---

I could feel that heavy movement of grief as I read--

"Let the dry host of our communion
melt at last in my mouth."

Indeed, m'friend. Let it be. I know.

I need closure
I need the words.

Sometimes we need to hear the words that get left unspoken so very badly, and yet all to often they are not spoken.  Well done Richard.

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.

Closure will only come when we are ready and accept it...
When a relationship ends, we do however need to hear the word 'Goodbye'.
Excellent write as always Richard.
