Little Goldfinch there’s a little goldfinch short and stout nibbling at the feeder head in and out pecking at the morsels that are gifted for sure feathers gold and black is his fine allure joined he by a friend or maybe a foe destined to repast on the perch not low swinging in the breeze a fine gentle sway nibbling at the morning commencing the day puffing out their feathers insulating the cool eating like they’re famished wonder if they drool wish that you could see them all lovely and fine swinging to and fro on this porch of mine Cat on the sofa sitting with a grin wond’rin’ what they’d feel like fluttering within. ©August 4, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, I'll seek the lighthouse evermore. I have three finches. Amos, Annie, and Ana. This is a lovely poem about these tiny little birds. |

oh my, that added a lot to the poem. A little wicked ending. I like it. Though I'd never let this mean ole cat here dine on my little finches. |
